Is one of the most beautiful places in the entire Sardinia or nearly even in the whole Mediterranean.

Here there is a gold landscape formed by imposing dunes 60 metres tall, piercing into the hinterland for more then 1 kilometer, and they finally plunge into an emerald sea.

The sea

You go through some dirt roads then, suddenly, you reach a wide gold sand beach overlooking an unbelievable sea; The coast is very long, and it is formed by nearly 7 kilometers of a deep, fine, golden beach.

Even in summer the quiet and the privacy are always guarantee in this place.

This enchanting shore is almost unpolluted and the sea offers a great variety of fauna in its deep sandy water.

An ancient vessel, that carried lead, lies not distance from the sea shore so you can easly see it snorkellling.

Are present all Costa Verde along, but in Pistis, Torre dei Corsari, Scivu and, most of all, here in Piscinas they show unique and magnificent views, a real saharian habitat.

The wind acts in this scenery like the principal author, giving strenght to the sea to accumulate sand on the coasts, then pushing it to the hinterland and moulding them continuously. How's strange, even if the habitat seems to be hostile to vegetation here juniper and mastic growth as well as in spring sea-lily, yellow poppy.

Reaching Piscinas coming from Ingurtosu, you unaware go throught an historical itinerary bounded with mining exploitation.

You meet several and striking ruins of that period that create a Far West ghost village atmosphere.

Near the small town of Ingurtosu you can see the ancient residence of the mines director, a liberty house named Villa Ginestra, the church, the hospital and the build with the head office of the mines (neo-gothic style).

The small road goes ahead to the valley and the sea among the ruins of the miners' houses, crossing the GAL Well until the Naracauli area where you can see the ruins of the enormous so called Lord Brassey washery; the road goes ahead among the bush of Naracauli Valley, skirting and overlapping to the ancient deacauville, a narrow gauge railway, this was for carry the extracted mineral up to the sea and loading to Carloforte.


There is a campsite in the hinterland and a very beautiful hotel near the dunes.

There are two kiosks on the beach, available renting beach umbrellas, deck chairs, canoes, twin-hulled boats, rubber dinghies.

A coast guard rescue is always guaranteed.



The sea of the Costa Verde is typical of the western of Sardinia, it is spectacular and wild, seldom calm, so formidable and sometimes hostile. It is evident that on days when the sea is more agitated and necessary care and caution.

Fuel supply

In the sea place of Piscinas there are no refueling stations for fuel, the closest petrol stations are located in Arbus and Guspini.

How to get there

Piscinas can be reached from either North or South along the state road SS 131, and also can be reached by the resort and localities of Costa Verde.

Coming from the North along state road SS 131, leaving the state road to Marrubiu.

Coming from the South along state road SS 131 out of the state road in Sanluri or coming from the South along state road SS 126 for example from Fluminimaggiore.
